i: why can i not pick up most of my free gifts? i "accept" them but am then just pitched straight into the farm and they never arrive? (possibly i left them too long and they expired, but they didn't all expire, it's a bit random)

They go into your "gift box", no? You probably also got a lot of msgs begging for gifts that look similar, I expect those will have expired.

same farmville, yes -- the dodgy stuff is very easy to avoid, just don't fill in IQ tests or surveys (this is a good rule in all walks of life).
