i: woke with horrible pressure headache -- bit better after anadin extra but bleagh
ii: then NO COFFEE -- tea no substitute at all
iii: THEN smashed little finger into doorframe in stupid clumsy way X(
iv: plus both pads have broken off glasses, which they do way too easily on these ones -- easily replaced but £10 is £10 pah

had strange dream where i was checking off a great list of all my schoolteachers to find who was still alive, who (if any) still working -- i think inspired by "gorgo" in love&rockets (beto version), who spends his time looking for people, in stories that make great jumps into the past, and who rather resembled a french teacher at my school 8-12, who (at that time) had been at the school for more than 40 years (and so has presumably retired now) (hard to check as i can't remember his name)

oh and i remembered his name and googled it, and he died in 2004 and it was 30 years not 40 -- he left all his money to the school, which is a mix of nice and sad somehow

It's never occurred to me to look into former teachers, though one made the news several years after I left the school. My former housemaster was shot at the school by the husband of a woman he'd been having an affair with. Oh, and my wife had a colleague comment on her name, because he kept hearing about a former pupil called Skidmore from his maths teacher, and that turned out to be me, so I know he was still at the school several years after I left.

no, nor to me, till this dream --the kinds of schools i was at tend to be rather self-regarding in terms of public flaunting of their histories, so it's not that hard to find stuff, at least on the more faithful servants

(i also looked up the one who had to leave for p43do activity, not at that time a career-ruining deal, especially: but his name is not rare enough to track anything down)

= a pun on yoghurt* and mini-egg**

*reference to the archetypally vain and trivial LJ post: "Had a yoghurt"
**as in "cadbury's mini-egg", a very shortlived species of chocolate

ps all sendings received and under review! thx

I've never particularly looked up old teachers, though I've bumped into a few still at the school when I go back, but weirdly this week I'm sure someone from my year was in the news - dunno if you've read about the Bristol hit-and-run case, the one where the driver fled the scene and there was a bit of a manhunt for her; but I'm pretty sure her husband was in my year. It's not a common name, the age is right, the location would fit, and the driver is an ex-Millfield pupil so, uh, the background would fit too.

haha my mum had an ever-lengthening list of links between her schooldays and horrible events in the news: it included lord lucan -- tho i forget the exact connection there, not very direct i suspect -- and dr buck ruxton; something about seeing* him pick up his kids from school with a bandage on his hand (there cz he had cut himself chopping his wife and maid into little bits earlier in the day)

the list always ended, somewhat lamely (she knew this, and played it for laughs): "and my father had a friend who was very interested in crippen"

*tho since it happened the year she was born, i assume it wasn't HER that saw this, possibly her dad**
**when halley's comet revisited in 1986, her mum regaled us all with descriptions of how much more exciting it had been in 1910 -- viz how it had HURTLED across the sky at great speed with a violent roaring hiss!
