ACTually, happier, sleeping better, ghosts of 2004 election night put to rest. Plus also got to lol at the expression on Michelle Obama's face during the Meet the Bushs, and imagine intense Father Jack-style training to convince GWB not to rub the head of the smiling black man.

gwb already said something strange, didn't he? something like "i'm delighted for you and your good bride"

(btw did you ever go see my friend's stand-up andrew? what did you think?)

Yeah, I went to the one shortly after I saw you at Ricky's birthday. I'd like to go back and see him when he's doing a proper set. He was MCing, and tried to make bits of admin funny but didn't, and they had a weird thing where they'd had a competition at the last one for who could pull the ugliest face, and they made the winner come on stage to pick it up.

I think they were trying to shore up a regular fanbase, but it felt awkward to me and there was a bit of low-level heckling of the 'get on with it' variety from behind me (actually it was probably just conversation, but with a venue the size of a telephone booth...).

I left before the first act :( Though I did have in mind that when I went home there was a pretty lady to IM with, so science was not entirely served.

i think their fanbase is VERY new, and they're new to the project -- russell said he couldn't work out how to be his comedy persona and MC there, so he won't do it again (elsewhere it's worked fine apparently but the space and the crowd work against t there)

i saw him again last week -- he was trying a lot of new stuff, and very nervous; but it sort of all came together -- it's interesting waching someone travel by touch, when they've hit on something potentially very rich, but incredibly ambitious (the other comics all seem terribly impressed by his boldness, which is interesting)

I have decided that writing about music videos is the best thing ever (ie taking priority over j0b-search and cookery-fail-project) and I am trying really hard to keep it down to two posts a day in case I get sick of it.
