i just lost two hours of rewrite work by saving a word doc on the office mac and the whole thing turns to little ys with umlauts (something is screwy with the server link i think)

back in the day on a mac you could go back and hunt out the last save but one (macs had an automatic back upo feature); and use eg norton to reconstitute old documents (which aren't deleted, just tidied away into the unreadablility cupboard)

is there a way to do this any more?

(i can of course start from scratch while my memory is fresh but s0d that)
