ok so last night i inadvisedly started my aunt C's memoirs -- 18 pages type-written -- as bedtime readin, and COULD NOT PUT THEM DOWN = finally turned light off at 3.15 :|

BUT: it was totally worth, they are funny and charming and poorly spelled and evocative of times gone by: they start w. her birth in 1932 and end w.birth of her second child, my (slightly older than me) (likable yet annoyingly bumptious) cousin r0b, who is a GP, in 1958

my dad by temperament -- and latterly condition -- has never been one for dwelling in the past; mum liked to talk about bein a little kid in the war (and haha how AWESOME it was), dad much less so -- so this is a tale featuring him a LOT (when small he and C were very close) and fascinating about his relationship w.his dad (which wasn't so great; C on the other hand adored my grandad but had a lifelong miserably awful relationship with my gran, her mum, who doted on my dad and was always grebt w.me and doctrah becky)

lots of LOL-moments i probbly shouldn't post but this one i can: during the war there was a popular milk substitute (which C sez was DELICIOUS spooned out of the tin) called "KLIM"!

I have been reading family scrapbook of newspaper clippings.

My great-great-great grandfather was at Ford's Theater the night Lincoln was shot!
