seven for a secret never to be told

saw a single magpie on the line of roofs opposite my front room, just as i was about to start my breathing exercises -- went over to window and spent a long time looking for the second ("for joy") magpie, but none to be seen, and then the first one caught sight of me and flew away and i was a bit desolate: sorrow it is then*

my back is very nearly better -- thanks largely to these and other exercises -- though i seem to have caught a mild but persistent chest cold from all the deep lung activity; but when i think how hyper i was this time last year i feel like i'm still just beginning to catch up with myself

i feel like i'm enjoying myself plenty -- in work and play -- but not really having much fun: if that makes sense (it doesn't)

*i sent the last bit of documentation off to the solicitor to wind up dad's estate on friday, so that's probably part of it: i completed my new york proposal (two weeks ago now) and i usually feel a bit blue after that kind of concentrated push; i'm a bit run down; the weather's greyly autumnal; and yes, admin closure and responsibilities over (or more properly: transferring) -- but i would like the pirate spark back soon

update: also i watched doomsday, series 2 finale for nu-who, in which the price of saving her earth is rose tyler's banishment to a parallel earth... so more industrial-strength parting on my evening's menu there, hmmm...

on the upside i just bought some coffee called "maxwell house bogaty smak"
