Jan. 27th, 2010 11:39 amfamily sukrat is caught up in the busy technical process of making a death a fact: informing friends, relatives and the authorities, the registrar a busy, precise, clever little woman, who made doctrah b and i both think that's what we want to be when we grow up
the undertaker twigged from our sibling mien that we cope with hard situations via dry humour, and adapted his own demeanour instantly, from reverence to relaxed tales of six-feet-under type: though sadly not the one about the feud with the firm of the same family name two streets away, the battle of their ads in yellow pages and so on, which we discovered elsewise (more on this later)
shocked love and admiration and offers of help are coming tumbling in, of course: it's the gradual accumulation of all this, and the little details and forms and discussions and worries -- what hymns did he like? we haven't the slightest idea -- that build into reality: but not yet, and at the moment we all still catch ourselves thinking, "will dad want some of this supper, or will he need something easier to chew?" and so on... the house is full of him, and mum too
and so on... anyway, thx for all yr support and messages, and we are ok if very extremely preoccupied -- i will be back in london for a few days on thur eve i think but maybe not out and about too much yet, just too much to get done
big hugs to all: the shape of my days is very strange at the moment and i miss you
