attempted break-in at dad's house last night -- first one since 1972 when we moved in
they didn't get in -- they were scared off by the neighbour's dog barking, which i hope is a sign they won't be back, and had vanished by the time the police came
dad was cool about it, but the carer was very scared: she says he was calming her down -- will talk to him later today when he wakes
the house looks more er pregnable than it probably is but this is no fun
UPDATE: false alarm! it was some kids going to a party elsewhere in the village, who got lost and got out to peer through the windows to see if this was the place with the party
(very sensibly the carer rang the village gossip, who is an awesome clearinghouse of information)
