ok today i have to write some letters -- one very belated and disgraceful -- and other necessary prep from year past for year future, general life turnaround project (by year end i want to be CEO of a fast-rising dotcom with a pullulating pan-sexual harem of admirers: all it needs is more checklists, right?)

also:
i: think about what i want to upgrade my computer to (from osx 10.2.8): it is getting quite buggy, and i can maybe possibly just about afford an actual new computer, not just an upgrade --- LJ advice?
ii: order printer-scanner-copier -- my eye is on the brother DCP 540-CN, as it is non-pricy in the viking catalogue which means they will deliver tomorrow or thur
iii: ring dad's plumber re drains >:(

v: new poptimists project = SOONER IS BETTER THAN LATER = i pull LPs out of my archive that i have never heard (or anyway don't remember playing) and review them for you (could add a guess dimension but these are mostly unplayed review copies of foax who got nowhere BECAUSE I NEVER PLAYED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE)
vi: debone notebooks (ie transfer scribbles to electronic ink prior to placing in electronic piles and ignoring for 23 years)
vii: eat more of chicken pepper and leek soup i made last night -- OMIGOD it is smacksome is that the wine or the peppers

i. probably new computer. i'm guessing you want one times mac? it's probably a good time of year to look, given sales etc, but i am not great at mac-stuff...

ii. all the money these days is made on the CARTRIDGES not the machines so check print costs innit ;)

erm it is a thing called a webshuttle DSL :\

What sort of plug does the cable have at the computer end? Is it an ethernet plug or a USB one?

the cable from the phone goes through a DSL filter which plugs into the computer AND the DSL webshuttle thing (which i think is an external modem) -- ie two cables come out of the DSL, one an ethernet plug into the computer, the other an ethernet plug into the DSL webshuttle (difft shapes of ethernet plug tho)

then the cable from the webshuttle into the computer is a USB lead

Webshuttle thing = USB modem, which means you might well need to install a driver or do some manual configuration to get it working with a new computer. I was hoping it was a full blown router, in which case you almost certainly wouldn't have to do anything other than plug the new computer into it.

yes i had complicated business installing it in the first place as it was buggy with the pre-upgrade computer -- i had email correspondance with the chief engineer of hermstedt in germany and he explained me how to patch in some code!

i imagine there will be a download available for next-gen macs but it is still a bore

however nildram always (was this yr steer?) and this set-up since then have been totally well-behaved

What about sukratling type things? Or wire trapper (but maybe that might be too dull)?
