I definitely recommend you export, just in case;* and Dreamwidth makes it easy (the export only took me minutes, but Dreamwidth says the import line this week is so long that it might take from 24 to 60 hours). As I discussed with belecrivainhere, after you do the export you should keep your lj account nonetheless, which Dreamwidth also makes easy. (In addition to the reasons I give, I'd like any links of mine to your lj to still be good.)
