iv: might be the first victim in dorothy sayers' first book, whose body? (the body is found naked in someone's bathroom, wearing only a pince nez: it has been swapped for a body in a teaching hospital morgue <-- but i imagine this bit of plot has occurred more than once (ie i know i have seen a version of it on CSI)

ii. is Meyer Wolfsheim(?) in The Great Gatsby
iii. is Jessica in the Merchant of Venice
v. is Isaac of York in Ivanhoe
vii. is Barabas in The Jew of Malta
viii. is the guy in The Jazz Singer, don't know the character's name

The category is Jewish characters in fiction I think?

ah in that case it is totally the sayers book

Sorry, misread iii - Jessica swapped the ring, the one who told Shylock about it was Tubal.

ix. seems like it should be John Wellington Wells, dealer in magic and spells, considering how much the quiz likes Gilbert & Sullivan, but I don't know that a Jewish character in a G&S operetta would be named 'Wells'!

The ending is wrong for JWWells.

Yeah, I just can't think of anyone else who famously works at Simmery Axe!
