assuming non-challopsy opinion (and that welles=orson), the "greatest production" is kane, and the deathbed word is "rosebud"

so this is probably rose-related material

(Anonymous) 2017-01-05 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
(ktee here) vii isn't ROSEBUD is it?

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
so i think vi is probably rosie of laurie lee's cider with rosie

(Anonymous) 2017-01-05 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
(ktee again) so if vii is ROSEBUD could viii be THE MARY ROSE?

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
i believe it is

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
i was wondering the same thing myself :)

(Anonymous) 2017-01-05 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
x sounds like a virus - so one that would cause a rosy rash, like rosacea?

(ktee AGAIN :))

[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
my first guess (after you said this) was rubella

[identity profile] jeff-worrell.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
v. is Rose Street in Edinburgh - the challenge is a pub crawl (surely carsmile has done this?)

[identity profile] jauntyalan.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I guessed rosacea. this is the most googlable one yet

[identity profile] sbp.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Twitcher implies bird of some kind?

[identity profile] sbp.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
ix) famous rosé wine of some sort? Mateus Rose?

[identity profile] sbp.livejournal.com 2017-01-05 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I googled after I got it right :) Mateus Palace in Vila Real, Portugal.

[identity profile] jauntyalan.livejournal.com 2017-01-06 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's probably Roseola https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roseola (HHV is human herpes virus, mmmm)

[identity profile] sbp.livejournal.com 2017-01-06 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"the red-eyed vireo may repeat the phrases in its song almost continually earning the colloquial "preacher bird" name." - does red-eyed count as rosy? Twitcher's "tick" is a sighting of a rare bird, or at least one you haven't seen and want for your list.

i looks like a lyric - Tralee? San Antonio? Cracklin'?

[identity profile] thebopkids.livejournal.com 2017-01-07 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Tralee (googled I'm afraid)

[identity profile] jeff-worrell.livejournal.com 2017-01-07 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
s'okay, you can google older Qs now

& w/google, the answer to iii. appears to be Clifford Rose:

I have have no memory of this series; do vaguely remember Secret Army tho

I have heard of this, but not done it!

[identity profile] belecrivain.livejournal.com 2017-01-08 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
searching: looks like iv may be the Golden Rose, though I haven't yet worked out which pope and which consort

[identity profile] sbp.livejournal.com 2017-01-10 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I reckon Pope Urban VIII and Henrietta Maria. She was queen consort of England, Scotland, and Ireland as the wife of King Charles I, and was the youngest daughter of King Henry IV of France.

1625 Henrietta Maria, Queen of England and Scotland Pope Urban VIII woman England and Scotland received at Amiens
