quick update notes

1: P is chipper and recovering; tho she certainly talked too much yesterday
2: while watching grease, her friend was moved to say: "They don't make films like this any more. It's like the Sistine Chapel, no one knows how to do that kind of thing now." Weirdly, I had never see Grease before. It is fun -- lots of interesting things to say about it, including the car race, prefigured in Rebel w/o a Cause and recapped in Repo man -- but I had not hithetofore thought to compare it to Michaelangelo.
3: MY HEATING IS NOT WORKING AGAIN. This was no real prob till today's chilly rain. It's the same thing as before, I think -- the little fan gets silted up with dust when it's not going on daily, and I switched it off while in France :(
4: i dremt i dremt that I developed a lead-lined bodysuit to protect me from Matthew Perpetua. On waking, this seems both unnecessary and somewhat unjust!

Don't know if your friend was specifically talking about M but the Sistine Chapel. A work rather than the artist. Doesn't the chapel represent an end of something and/or a particular era? If so I think that kind of works (from the scraps I know about both works)...I type this as I'm half-watching Glee and its maybe too knowing compared to Grease.

I was actively surprised how self-aware (and how intensely 70s in mannerism) Grease is: Sha Na Na are closer cousins to King Crimson than they are to the actual-real 50s as I understand them (having not lived through even a week of them!)

P's pal is operating somewhat out beyond the very edge of any cultural discussion you and I would recognise I think, Juli0; I would hesitate to second-guess what she knows and doesn't know (for a start, she is mixed-race South African w/Chinese ancestry; and she is quite a lot older than me).
